Spring is here… Or is it?

I’m sitting here in my warm, fuzzy pants, peeking out at the frost still resting on the ground, the sky a soft shade of gray.

According to the calendar — and the wheel of the year — we are officially four days into Spring and as what some of us have known to be as OSTARA.

So why does it still feel like we’re gently buttoning up Winter? I can remember so many years like this…

Where one day brings snow squalls and the next offers bright sunshine, crocuses pushing their way through the earth, and tiny bee bums sticking out of early blossoms.

This was Taken on one Spring Equinox day in our back yard. The first signs of life returning…

It’s as if Old Man Winter and Lady Spring are in a quiet tug of war…

And slowly — ever so slowly — Winter begins to loosen it’s grip.

This space we are in right now… It’s not fully Winter. Nor is it fully Spring.

It’s the in-between. A place of soft becoming.

Where we begin to feel the gentle return of energy, color, and life —
but we are not quite ready to burst forward just yet. And maybe that’s exactly how it’s meant to be.

Spring doesn’t always arrive in a rush.

Sometimes it comes in whispers…

I find myself leaning into the words that always seem to rise this time of year:

Renew
Reclaim
Remember
…and even Re-treat

Not in a way that feels rushed or forceful…But in a way that feels gentle, playful, and alive. Not quite ready to frolick, but yes with those energies rising as well.

A little more pep in the step.
A quiet pitter-patter in the heart.
A wellspring of joy returning to the voice.

And in that same spirit…

I find myself wanting to open both myself and The Heart Center —
very gently —
into this new season. Not all at once. And Certainly not as a grand push.

This time of year has always been one of my favorites.

Years ago, I taught a workshop where we used the letters of our name to discover words, qualities, and ways of being.

Somewhere in that process, I came upon the name “Nature Girl.”

And it stayed with me. It felt like something I had always known…
but had finally spoken out loud.

Around that same time, I also discovered that my name carries the meaning of rebirth. And something about that landed deeply. So much so that it found its way into my creations…

Not one, but two cards in my deck —
one being Reborn
(you know… like the fish getting ready to hatch in the river) A little friendly nod to those of you who have grown up on water like me (:
and the other, the Phoenix.

A reminder… we begin again more often than we realize.

I’ve always felt myself moving between the elements…Earth, air, fire and water
learning how to hold them, balance them, listen to them.

But right now…

It feels like a dance between water and fire.

Even though, as the wheel turns, Spring is said to belong to the element of air —
the Eastern direction…the place of new beginnings, inspiration, and breath.

And oh…that sweet, sweet breath.

The breath of fresh air.
The breath that cleans and clears.
The breath that stirs the embers.

Maybe even the breath of fire…
burning away the heaviness of Winter.

And of course the breath of life…
gently awakening all that is ready to rise.

But like Spring itself…
slowly, intentionally, and with care.

This is the energy I find myself returning to again and again this time of year…

Over the years, I’ve created a number of ways to walk with this season…If you are feeling this season stirring something in you too…

I’ve gathered a few gentle offerings that might support you: Reflections and writings on Spring, Ostara, and renewal

Take what resonates.
Leave the rest

From the Sanctuary

And as the season begins to shift…

The Heart Centered space is opening again —
softly, and with intention.

If you feel called to step in, here are a few ways to do so:

  • A light-hearted, playful visioning + art exploration to awaken creativity and reconnect with your inner spark.
  • Mini retreat-style gatherings for rest, reflection, and gentle renewal
  • A space to Bloom Where You Are Planted a manifestation journey rooted in presence and possibility
within the garden of your own heart

There is no pressure here…
only an open door, reach out if any of these tickle your fancy and you want to know more.

The hearth is still warm, and ready for you during this In-between time of the season
